Carencro Welcome Center
An intimate interpretive exhibit showcasing Carencro’s history through architecture, artifacts, and bilingual storytelling.
The Carencro Welcome Center transforms a 200-year-old Acadian cottage into a cohesive, informative, and bilingual visitor experience—within a highly constrained footprint. Every element works with, not against, the architecture with a design strategy that embraces its limitations. Exhibits were carefully scaled and positioned to preserve sightlines and spatial flow, while delivering layers of local history, artifacts, and cultural data. In other areas, exposed sections of original construction became exhibits with overlaid explanatory graphics and digital smartboards provided interactive tools for deeper exploration.
